A concert was held on 21 June by the different music groups at the Pau Casals School of Music in El Vendrell, hosted by the Government of Catalonia's Minister for Education, Ernest Maragall, to mark the inauguration of the school's new building. The new facilities at the school are located in the former Tívoli cinema in El Vendrell.

Following three years of restoration work, the new centre has an area of over 3,200 square metres. The building covers 5 floors: basement, ground floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor and the attic.

These five floors house the Auditorium, a smaller auditorium, a multipurpose hall, library, classrooms, dressing rooms, offices, reception and services.

July will see the inauguration in Tarragona of the Torreforta, Riuclar and Icomar Municipal Swimming Pool, a project promoted by Tarragona City Council, financed by the 2009 "Local Investment State Fund", with an investment of € 3,90,173 in which Vicsan Torredembarra, S.A. had a 75% interest in the Vicsan-Servial temporary business alliance.

Its main features include a constructed surface area of 3,213.37 m2.
Two indoor paddle tennis courts, and two 25 and 12 metre swimming pools, with a capacity for 299 people.

Work is scheduled to begin in summer 2010 on the construction of a 600-m service road, parallel to the N-340 national road in the municipality of El Vendrell (Tarragona), within the urban development framework of the Els Masets Industrial estate.

Work will be carried out with practically no disruption to normal traffic flow on such a high capacity road as this.

The BERGÉ MARITIMA company has commissioned the construction of a 3,600 m2 grain storage warehouse in the Port of Tarragona.
Work will be carried out within the scheduled timescale and completion is set for November 2010.

July 2010 will see VICSAN TORREDEMBARRÁ begin construction work on a 450-space car park adjacent to the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona, as well as urban development renovation work on the area surrounding the entire Hospital buildings.
Use of the car park will be under a 25-year concession system.

VICSAN Torredembarra collaborates with the commemorative acts of the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Fire Brigade in Tarragona, which will take place during this current year and the beginning of next year.

To celebrate the 150 years of existence of this corps, from the association of recreacional activities of the Tarragona Fire station, different cultural and Sports events will take place, as well as lasting activities such as the publishing of a book on the history of the corps or the creation of a web page where their very own experiences will be widely broadcast.

VICSAN Torredembarra collaborates with the Tarragona Association 2017, that aims at promoting the candidacy of the Town of Tarragona as the venue for the celebration of the XVlll Juegos Mediterráneos (Mediterranean Games) in the year 2017.

On signing the agreement the Managing Director-General of the Construction Company, Jordi Virgili Olivé, VICSAN has become a member of the CLUB ORO TARRACO 2017, in which only a reduced number of companies form part as principal sponsers of this candidacy.

The General Assembly of the Spanish Olympic Committee has recognised the effort carried out by the candidacy of Tarragona, designating them as the only Spanish Candidate for the Juegos Mediterráneos de 2017.

The following step will centre on international promotion and drawing up of the project that the international committee of the Juegos Mediterraneos will present.

Tarragona will substitute the so-called 'Cent Escales' with escalators. The cost of the works, that will be responsibility of the Fondo Estatal de Inversión Local, (State funds for local investment) is 2.3 million euros.

The works will give work to 40 people, 27 on the staff and 13 on the dole.

The architect of these works that will be carried out by the Vicsan company- Eloi Balcells . expliained that, besides improving mobility in the area, the project also contemplates a view point at carrer Zamenhoff. The first stretch of the escalator to ascend or descend will begin here.

The last two stretches will start at the area where at present there is a rather neglected square.
The 18 metres that separate the Vapor and Zamenhoff streets will definitely be saved.

Five Catalonian Construction companies -Àrids Romà, Emcofa, Excover, Rubau Tarrès and Vicsan Constructora- have created the Quatuor Infraestructuras y Concesiones Company in an effort to augment their possibilities of success in the contesting of public works in Catalonia. 'Separately we cannot handle these projects', the president of the new Group, José Pablo Rodríguez-Marín explained yesterday.

'We hope there will be more tenders in the future', added the president. The Quatuor Companies 'complement each other geographically and sectorially', he emphasized. Outside this collaboration, the five matrix companies will continue to function independently.

The building intends to centralize Activa Mutua administrative services and offices. The headquarters in Tarragona will continue assisting clients.
Building with ground floor + 2, with more than 4.400 m2 of construction, destined as offices, part of the ground floor for assístance related use, carpark and archives in the basement. Foreseen duration of building is 17 months.

The projected municipal swimming pool for the Torreforta, Riuclar and Icomar districts will be started shortly and finished before the end of the year.

The municipal swimming pool will have an area of 3213 m2 and will include a gymnasium, changing rooms and a pool area encompassing two swimming pools, the main one and a secondary pool.

Work started on 17th November.

During the act of placing the first stone, celebrated on 23rd. September, collaboration between the participants involved to reduce the time and handover the project in 18 months was discussed.

Today the redirection of traffic arriving at the emergencies area has been completed, with the reorganization of zones adjoining the entrance. The excavation of the basement has been 90% finished, the tower crane erected and the structure of the annex building initiated.

On November 29th 2008 the International Solidarity in Sport and the non govermental organization Raquetas sin Fronteras Christmas dinner took place.

Celebrated in the Hotel Plaza in Barcelona, more than 300 people attended and our company VICSAN CONSTRUCTORA sponsored one of the tables.

The tarraconense team sponsored by the VICSAN group has supplied sports kits to an African club. As a symbolic compensation a link between the two clubs has been established, and the name been changed to Altafulla Gambia Football Academy.
The tarraconense club has taken this more seriously and wishes to continue collaborating.
